General:
You don't check mail through slimail's site. slimail forwards messages to your original inbox (Gmail/Yahoo!/ISP mail), so you continue checking mail the way you used to. For more info - see
How to use slimail.
All of them. While slimail works best with Gmail, slimail is not client or provider dependent. However, if you have experienced any problem, we would be happy to help you in support

Yes, if your original mail does. You don't check mail through slimail's servers. slimail forwards messages to your original inbox (Gmail/Yahoo!/ISP mail), so you continue checking mail the way you used to. For more info - see

No. slimail's goal is to handle fun-mail, not junk-mail. We leave that mission to your mail provider. Future versions may contain spam filtering.
slimail cleans both subject lines and e-mail bodies. Both are cleaned by removing common patterns which are added by different services - for example: most e-mail providers add a "FW:" prefix to the mail's subject, and a forwarding paragraph to the mail's body. Antivirus systems add indications for virus-free e-mails. slimail detects these patterns, and removes them. With time, slimail will be more and more accurate - and your emails will be cleaner.
slimail uses a file-hashing technology, which - in simple terms - means that every file gets a unique "fingerprint". This way, even if the same attachment has different names, it is still considered the same one. Woo hoo.
The rating that you see in your messages are not rated automatically - but by other slimail users! Every user that viewed the same message as you did - can rate the message. You can rate the message too. This way - a virtual community of users who received the same message is formed. Now don't you feel like clicking the rating bar?
slimail video is slimail's streaming video server. If you enable it, every e-mail containing a video file will be uploaded to slimail servers, and the e-mail containing it will have a link to video.slimail.com instead of the original file. This way, you can start watching the video without having to wait for its complete download - it will be streamed, like in YouTube. This way, your inbox will have more free space - the video file is spared from your mailbox (but you can still download it from video.slimail.com).
Private videos are password protected. This means that only whoever received the video via e-mail can watch them, after logging into slimail. A private video cannot be shared with other people - emails containing links to private videos cannot be opened.
A frozen account is intended for users who like to stop receiving "fun-mail" for a period of time. If you go on a vacation and don't want to receive those kinds of e-mails, you can freeze your account - and only "real" messages will pass through. This way your inbox won't be flooded with messages. You can freeze / unfreeze your account in the account management page.
Paranoid mode is intended for users who are afraid to lose e-mails, and don't want to use slimail's filtering mechanism. A paranoid user will receive
every message sent to him, even if it should be filtered (a duplicate message, for example). However, these e-mails will be tagged (the subject line will contain a word chosen by you) - so that you can recognize which e-mails are considered filtered. One common use is to add a rule in your client, so that these tagged messages will appear in a certain folder.
No. slimail forwards messages to your original inbox (Gmail/Yahoo!/ISP mail), so you continue checking mail the way you used to, with your regular client.
However, we highly recommend that you
compose e-mails using your slimail address. This way people will only know you by one address. To see how -

No problem. In order to do so - we need to configure your client to send mail showing your slimail address in the "From" field.
Another method is to set the "Reply-To" address to your slimail address. This way, when people reply to your messages, they will use your slimail address.

Troubleshooting:
Don't panic. We save every single message for a period of 14 days. Every message is restorable. To restore a message, log-in to your account, and use the "My filtered e-mails" tab. After clicking the restore button - your original message will appear in your mailbox in a few seconds.
If your message does not appear in the tab, mail us: support

slimail is a smart mail-forwarding service. As one, slimail's servers send e-mails on behalf of non-slimail users. Some spam filters recognize this as spoofing, thus showing the e-mails in the junk folder.
The best way is to try to lower your spam protection settings in your e-mail account. This can be done easily, usually using the 'Settings' page in your mail account.

Messy messages can be caused by slimail's cleaning mechanism. You can restore the original message by clicking the "Restore original message" link in the toolbar on the top of the message. You can also disable mail cleaning in the account settings page. If you want to help slimail get better, please send the garbaged mail to support

In the current version, the rating panel is added only to e-mails that contain attachments. You cannot rate a textual joke or a link at the moment. Future versions will support that. Behold.
slimail supports only Rich-Text e-mail messages (aka "HTML" formatted messages). Plain text messages are converted into Rich-Text messages. You should ensure that your client / mail provider supports this. slimail uses UTF-8 encoding for the rating panel. If it looks weird (contains "?" characters), set your browser / client's encoding to UTF-8.
